Chakradance: The Root Chakra

During a recent class at Tranquility Haven Center This is an affiliate link in Stuart, FL, a group of 4 students embarked on an evening of Chakradance focused on the Root (Muladhara) Chakra.

Class from August 12, 2020

The Root Chakradance focuses on the legs and feet. It is the Chakra at the base of the spine that is represented by the color red. The dance is much like a Tribal dances of ancient tribes. This is where we imagine we are around an ancient fire feeling the spiritual energy of our ancestry. In tribal cultures, they would often mimic the movements of animals in dancing to the root chakra.

Associations of the Root Chakra

The Root Chakra is associated with these behaviors and functionality:

  • Security, safety
  • Survival
  • Basic needs (food, sleep, shelter, self-preservation, etc.)
  • Physicality, physical identity and aspects of self
  • Grounding
  • Support and foundation for living our lives

When the Root Chakra is out of balance, you may experience:

  • Excessive negativity, cynicism
  • Eating disorders
  • Greed, avarice

The Benefits of Dancing at the Root Chakra

When we do Chakradance, we find different benefits from the act of Chakradance, but each Chakradance focuses on different benefits to our overall health and wellbeing.

The Root (Muladhara) Chakradance is designed to anchor our energies in the here and now, present moments of life. When we dance at the root, we are tapping into our inner survivor, waking up our vital energies to be present, taking care of ourselves, and remembering our values at the core of who we are.

Additionally benefits of dancing to Root Chakra include:

  • passion
  • natural pleasure
  • loyalty
  • prosperity
  • patience
  • tenacity
  • career success
  • Taking care of our suprarenal glands, prostate (in men), kidneys, bladder, and spine

The Root Chakra is influenced by manifestation, survival, grounding, and stability. The dance aligns the parts of us that must be present to experience the best versions of ourselves. If the Root Chakra is malfunctioning, someone might experience a lack of vitality, security and survival issues, as well as health issues.

Next Chakradance Class

In the next class, I had a request for the Throat (Vishuddha) Chakra. This dance is where the voice and dance are woven together in a performance designed to intensify our inner voice. Come join us at Tranquility Haven Center This is an affiliate link for this incredible experience.
